Car Sales in Germany Fall in March
The number of new passenger cars registered in Germany fell by 3.9% in March compared to the same month last year to 253,497, the Federal Motor Transport Authority said in a report.
Meanwhile, sales of petrol-powered cars fell by 29.4%, diesel by 21.7%, while registrations of electric cars rose by 35.5% and hybrids by 22.1%.
Among German brands, Volkswagen (+5.7%), Audi (+2.4%) and Mercedes (+1.6%) showed sales growth last month. VW has the largest share of the country’s car market – more than 20%.
Meanwhile, Opel sales fell by 26.1%, Porsche by 20.8%, Ford Motor by 17.5% and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG by 2.4%.
