Retail Sales Increased in August in the Eurozone.
In August, retail sales in the Eurozone increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month. This is reported by the Statistical Service of the European Union (Eurostat).
According to Bloomberg, the dynamics coincided with the average estimate of analysts. Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 0.2%, and motor fuel by 1.1%. Sales of non-food products (excluding fuel) increased by 0.3%.
Retail sales in the euro area rose by 0.8% in August compared to the same month 2023. Among them, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products decreased by 0.2%. Sales of non-food products increased by 1.4%, and motor fuel – by 2.5%.
According to revised data, retail sales were unchanged from July, after a 0.1% increase was previously reported. The annual estimate is confirmed – a decrease of 0.1%.
EU retail sales rose 0.3% month-on-month in August and 1% year-on-year.
