Retail Prices in Germany Increased by 2.8% in May
Retail prices in Germany, harmonized with EU standards, rose by 2.8% year-on-year in May 2024, following a 2.4% rise in the previous month. These are the preliminary data of the country’s Federal Statistical Service (Destatis).
Compared to the previous month, consumer prices increased by 0.2%.
Consumer prices rose by 0.6% month-on-month in April. Analysts on average are predicting growth of 2.7% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month.
Consumer prices, calculated by German standards, increased by 2.4% year-on-year in May. Compared to April, the increase was 0.1%.
Experts expected a 2.4% increase in the annual rate and a 0.2% increase monthly.
